The Basics.

My name is Dustin Ward and I’m a freelance web developer primarily developing using the  WordPress platform.

I started dabbling with computers and amateur radios when I was 13 years old. I was a member of a local amateur radio club and repaired computers for extra money. I found that I was repeating the same tasks every day for around two hours to get a measly amount of money. So I began learning Visual Basic, eventually writing my first program.

Fast forward a few years and I am still deeply involved in computers. On a daily basis, I use PHP/MySQL and WordPress.

My main interest for the past few years, however, has been the art of programming. And no, I don’t mean the books. I have recently spent a majority of my time studying design patterns, good programming style and practices, working with teams, and so on. I believe in open source software, I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today if it wasn’t for the generosity of open source programmers.
